The Dubai-based hospitality behemoth Jumeirah Group has purchased one of Switzerland's most famous hotels - Le Richemond. This is first Jumeirah hotel in Switzerland and its fifth in Europe (others in London, Capri and Majorca).
The hotel - founded in 1875 and which overlooks Lake Geneva - was once part of Rocco Forte Hotels and was also managed by the Dorchester Collection.
Le Richemond - which features 87 rooms and 22 suites - has been shut since 2020.
“This is an important acquisition for Jumeirah as it marks our entry into Switzerland … Le Richemond is a legendary property with a 140-year legacy and impeccable pedigree, and we are committed to preserving this heritage as we redesign the hotel,” said Katerina Giannouka, chief executive of Jumeirah Group.
