The San Domenico Palace, Taormina, A Four Seasons Hotel will open with 111 rooms and suites, the Principe Cerami restaurant led by Michelin-starred winning chef Massimo Mantarro, spa, infinity pool terrace and Turkish bath. There are new dining options including Anciovi, a fabulous poolside restaurant, and Rosso, the all-day-dining venue with a spectacular terrace.

The hotel is situated in the hilltop town of Taormina, on the eastern shores of the Mediterranean’s second largest island, overlooking the Bay of Taormina and the Ionian Sea. Sicily is renowned for its Greek temples and theatres – many just a few minutes’ walk from the hotel and of course, Mount Etna, Europe’s biggest active volcano which is visible clearly from many of the hotel’s balconies and terraces.

The original rooms are converted monastic cells, and some feature private terraces & balconies – complete with those stunning views and for the lucky few, plunge pools.

Originally a 14th century Dominican monastery, a Grand Hotel Wing was added to the property in 1896 turning it into a palazzo for the well-heeled and the well-travelled. DH Lawrence, Elizabeth Taylor, Audrey Hepburn, and Sophia Loren were just some Palace’s more famous guests.

Other Taormina highlights include Isola Bella (Beautiful Island) – a small nature reserve, Teatro Antico di Taormina (theatre), the Corvaja Palace and the Duomo di Taormina - a stunning Catholic church.
