Currently, the flights will transit through Singapore, but Turkish Airlines has ambitions to eventually offer direct flights to Melbourne and potentially other Australian cities. This plan hinges on the acquisition of new aircraft capable of nonstop flights between Istanbul and Melbourne.
Professor Dr. Ahmet Bolat, Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee of Turkish Airlines, shared his thoughts on this significant development:
“This is a milestone for us as we achieve our long-standing objective of reaching Australia. We are thrilled to add Melbourne as our 346th destination, introducing Australia, known for its natural splendour and warm hospitality, as the 130th country and 6th continent in our network. Our aim is to foster closer ties and enhance mutual tourism, trade, and business opportunities between Turkey and Australia.”
