Virgin Australia Gears Up for Pet-Friendly Flights
Virgin Australia is set to introduce pet-friendly flights. This long-awaited service will allow passengers to bring small cats and dogs on board domestic flights, provided they can travel in carriers that fit under the seat.
While the exact launch date and pricing details are still being finalised, Virgin Australia has confirmed that a limited trial is in the works.
It's anticipated that flying with a pet will incur an additional fee of up to AUD150. Your pet carrier will count towards your carry-on baggage allowance, and pets will be restricted to specific rows, preventing them from roaming freely or sitting on laps.
The proposed pet-friendly flights will not affect the current policy for approved assistance animals, which can continue to travel in the cabin at no extra cost. Virgin Australia will also maintain its existing cargo options for pets. If the airline adheres to the original timeline, passengers can expect to travel with their furry friends starting around March 2025.
