Singapore's Changi Airport has launched a year-long program providing free bicycle rentals to transit passengers.
This initiative allows passengers with layovers in Singapore to use bicycles for two hours at no charge. It's an opportunity to explore nearby outdoor attractions like the Jurassic Mile and beaches along the East Coast. The airport's cycling path, part of Singapore’s larger park connector network, offers access to diverse local attractions such as Bedok Jetty, East Coast Lagoon Hawker Centre, and residential areas like Bedok and Siglap. This provides ample chances for social media-worthy photos, authentic local cuisine, and leisurely spots.
Eligible passengers must have a layover of 5.5 to 24 hours and meet visa requirements for entry into Singapore.
For those with longer layovers, extended bicycle rental is available for a fee, allowing further exploration of Singapore's sights at a relaxed pace. Changi Airport Group has curated four different cycling routes, ranging from two to six hours, each tailored to different interests, from cultural appreciation to discovering Singapore's quaint locales.
Upon returning to the airport, passengers can access pay-per-use shower facilities and an alfresco café and bar, ensuring a refreshed return to their travels. Advanced bookings can be made on Changi Airport’s website or the Changi App. The GoCycling bicycle rental facility at Hub & Spoke near Terminal 2 serves as the starting point for these cycling adventures.
